The Classic Gin and Tonic

Once upon a time when we were allowed to travel the world, we made our way to a magical drinkery called The Ginstitute by Portobello Road Gin . There we sniffed botanicals, sipped on spirits and learned the history of the most British of cocktails…the Gin and Tonic! With only a few ingredients this refreshing classic makes any situation decidedly more hip. It’s the kind of drink that you could picture Stacey sipping on (don’t worry in moderation her diabetes can handle it) when she goes through that rebellious phase where she only dates dudes with handlebar mustaches riding penny-farthings down the streets of Brooklyn.

The Recipe:

  • 2-oz gin (Nell used bespoke gin made at The Ginstitute but all of Portobello Road’s gins are fab!)

  • 3-4-oz tonic water

  • Lime for garnish

Fill a highball glass with ice. Pour the gin over the ice and top with tonic water. Give a lite stir and garnish with lime.

Now if you listen to the pod you know we love a proper cocktail! You also know that sometimes we just don’t have time and usually that means we crack open a bottle of wine. Sometimes though, wine just ain’t strong enough (I mean ask Mrs. Pike, when you have 900 children every now and again the rosé is just not going to cut it) so that’s where this little cutie cocktail on the go from The Cocktail Box Co. comes in.
