Reading is FUNdamental

It turns out, when there’s a pandemic raging and the smart thing to do is stay home and avoid people as much as possible, books can be your salvation! When we’re not visiting the Babysitters Club world, we like to borrow books digitally from our local library, and finally dig into those stacks of books that have been waiting for us to have more time. And while we know not everyone is a reader, everyone loves stories. So if the idea of sitting down and inhaling that new-book smell doesn’t do it for you, maybe try the audio version. Books in any format are incredible! Here are two books that we read recently and loved if you need a suggestion of where to start or something new to add to your TBR pile.

Stephanie read (and loved) The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. It had that deep dive into mysticism that she digs, with a non-linear timeline, pirates, mysterious doorways, and secrets. We think Karen would adore this book, when she gets just a little bit older.

Nell soaked up the glamorous life of Los Angeles in the 1930s, with Close Up by Amanda Quick, where photography, art, and murder all come together. There’s an independent heroine and only slightly emotionally damaged private investigator. This one is probably already sitting on Claudia’s bookshelf—but definitely also hiding a bag of jellybeans behind it.
